Stinky feet: The adventure of BigFoot | DEVLOG #3

Hello there, my name is Strahinja and I am an indie game developer!

I think so.

I mean I have almost all of the indie traits. A failed game that thought people will be amazed by, yes I am talking about Block Annihilator.

I still think that Block Annihilator is an AWESOME NAME, AWESOME I TELL YOU!

Talk about being delusional…

Next, I have entered several game jams, didn’t win anything.

A couple of those I did not finish, so another indie checkbox ticked.

And last but not least, I DO EVERYTHING ON MY OWN XD XD.

Art, coding, marketing, PR, CRM, and seventeen other words that make no sense.

So today, as you can see I am creating my own art!

First I must say that I really love free and open-source software, which is quite ironic as my day job is testing commercial business software…

So as I started saying, I love free and open-source software.

And so I try to use free software where and when possible.

So for my drawing weapon of choice, I use gimp for drawing stuff. I guess I am still missing that one indie trait, using Aseprite.

And I went through the hassle of compiling it on my own, you know download source, download Cmake, ninja build system whole nine yards.

It was a major hassle, it feels like it took me forever to do it…

I tried using it, but it just did not click for me.

I mean I am using gimp for 15 years, since I was a kid so I think it must be it I just could not get myself to draw in something else.

Gimp just comes naturally to me. And as you can probably see I am not that good at drawing but drawing is less painful when I use a tool that I know and that is it, get off my back with that Aseprite thing ok?

As I end my gimp vs Aseprite rant I remember that I wanted to explain why I am drawing a statue, here. I wanted to spruce up stinky feet a bit and bring in some variety so I decided to send my protagonist to Greece, old Greece, antique classic Greece. So I needed some Greece-like assets.
